Interview with Jamie K. Schmidt, author of HEAT, giveaway & review too

Author Info

Jamie K. Schmidt has published more than thirty short stories in small-press journals and e-zines. She’s an active member in the Romance Writers of America, serving as the president for her local chapter in Connecticut. When not writing, she relaxes with a mug of hot tea and knits or makes beaded jewelry. She sells her handcrafted items at the Dudley Farm during the summer.

I was fortunate enough to ask Jamie K. Schmidt some questions. :-)

Here's what she was willing to share:

What part of writing do you find the most challenging? Most enjoyable?

I find the most challenging part of writing is actually just sitting down to do it. I've got a thousand and one ways to procrastinate. The most enjoyable is typing THE END.

What are you working on and when can we expect it to be out?

I'm working on book three of the Club Inferno series. Book one, Heat is out on June 3rd and book two, Longing, is Anya and Clint's story. It's releasing September 2nd. Book three is Fever, and it's Colleen & Chase's story.

In what scenario do you do your best work?

I have to have candles lit and music playing. My cat is usually next to me and I have either tea or diet cola nearby.

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?

I like Ben & Jerry's. My go-to flavor is New York Super Fudge Chunk. But Cherry Garcia is a close second.

Hardback, paperback, ebook or audio book?

Hardbacks are library books, or the utmost indulgence. I can scarf a hardback down in a day, so it's not cost effective for me. I'm running out of room for all my paperbacks, so the ebooks are a lifeline. I'm very picky about narrators on audio book. One wrong voice and I can't listen to the audio book. No matter how much I want to "read" the book.

Who is your favorite author?

Depends on the genre and the day of the week. I really like Ilona Andrews, Karen Marie Moning, Anne Bishop, Jim Butcher for paranormal/fantasy. I love Laura Moore, Kristan Higgins, Jill Shalvis, Jesse Hayworth, Loretta Chase for romance. I really don't have a favorite.

What is your favorite summer activity?

Reading, of course! Followed by swimming in a pool, then going out on my Dad's boat.

What is your favorite part of the day?

My son's bedtime. I get to tuck him in after a bath so he's all sweet smelling, and then we snuggle and read a story. And afterwards it's ME time. I remember those days. :-) Now mine are teens so we don't have those moments. :-(

What type of music do you listen to?

When I'm writing, I like to have the Pandora station "Spirit of Reiki" on. Otherwise I love 80's music and a select bit of modern pop.

What food can't you live without?

French fries—unfortunately. On the more healthy side, avocados.

How do you prefer to communicate ( in person, texting, email, or phone)?

Email! I hate talking on the phone and in person I always feel awkward.

Fresh air or air conditioning?

It used to be fresh air until suddenly, I have allergies that make it hard to breathe. So fresh air = poison sometimes. So I love air conditioning. Although as I write this, the AC is off and the screen door is open.

What is your favorite beverage?

Diet Coke or tea. My newest tea obsession is Teavana's Blueberry Pineapple Pop, iced.

When shopping at the Mall, which type of store is more apt to tempt you?

My go to stores are: Teavana to sample all the samples, LUSH to buy bath bombs, and Lindt to get some chocolate truffles.

Blurb

Style and seduction collide in Jamie K. Schmidt’s Heat—sure to please fans of Fifty Shades of Grey—as the world’s best-dressed men and women shed their clothing . . . and their inhibitions.

On the run from her abusive fiancé, ER doctor Mallory Bryant arrives at her sister’s Connecticut resort desperate for a place to restore balance to her life. But Club Inferno is more than a haven for the rich and fashionable. Beneath its elegant facade is an erotic playground where dominants and submissives play out their fantasies. At first, Mallory is wary of Max Spencer, the martial arts trainer acting as her bodyguard—until he introduces her to passion so intense she wants nothing more than to surrender to his touch.

As one of Couture’s most skilled doms, Max enjoys taking Mallory to the limits of pleasure. It’s a dangerous proposition, and as their sensual games draw them into a relationship beyond the boundaries of pupil and master, Max starts spiraling out of control. But when Mallory’s violent past catches up with her, Max knows what he must do: draw her closer than ever before, even if it means risking a surrender of his own.

My Thoughts:

Hot, hot, hot! Club Inferno is a very apt name for this series!

There was lots of steam ;-), some romance, wicked hot rope usage, plenty of hot men, lessons in sex such as oral talents, etc... , fashion,  abusive situations, and some action in this scorcher. ;-)

I am having a hard time writing this as my wires were short circuited by all of the flames.

I can say that I enjoyed it and I hope to read more about the other characters as they find HEAs of their own.The next book, Longing, is due out in September and will focus on Anya and Clint. Mmmmm, Mmmm, Mmm, I can't wait!

If you like your books super hot and sexy, you need to read this. This book would be great for fans of the Wicked Play series by Lynda Aicher.

I received an ecopy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. I thought it was scorchingly good!

Don't forget to enter the Comment Incentive Giveaway. It is a great chance to win a book you'd like to have! The link can be found at the top of the page.
