VBT: Review and Giveaway ~ Taming Johnny by Kaylie Newell

Blurb

He's got the temperament of a lion, and she's just the one to tame him.

Police records clerk Emma Beaumont has always played it safe, never taking many risks. Quiet, shy, and a little overweight, she's convinced herself that she's comfortable with the way her life is. That is until she lays eyes on incredibly sexy Lieutenant Johnny Street. But she's never met anyone with such a terrible attitude. He's a jerk. Everyone thinks so.

Little by little, Emma is forced to uncover a stronger, spunkier part of herself, one that isn't afraid to stand up to him. As she gets to know him, she starts seeing glimpses of a very different man. A man who has known great heartache, and as it turns out, has good reason for embracing such bitterness. Behind his sharp tongue and harsh demeanor, lies a young man who's desperately afraid of losing what's left of himself.

As Emma's intense desire for Johnny turns to love, she will have to ask herself how far she'll go to chip away at his frosty heart. And at what cost.

Author Info

For Kaylie Newell, storytelling is in the blood. Growing up the daughter of two gifted writers, she knew eventually she’d want to follow in their footsteps. While she’s written short stories her whole life, it wasn’t until after her kids were born that she decided to shoot for the moon and write her first romance novel. She hasn’t looked back since!

Kaylie lives in Southern Oregon with her husband, two little girls, two indifferent cats and a Chihuahua named Pedro.

My Thoughts:

This book was endearing. Johnny was a jerk to keep people away but Emma saw through his charade and started chipping away at his layers.

Taming Johnny was a quick read but I enjoyed it quite a bit. It had a fair amount of steam and a "broken cop" who doesn't think he can be fixed.

These two were great together even if he did try to push her away.

If you like quick books with steam and emotion, you should read this one.

I received an ecopy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. I liked it. :-)

  2. I'll definitely have to grab this one. I like when a strong woman can stand up to a guy and see through his tough guy act. Plus sometimes a little bit of a challenge is fun. :) Thanks for sharing!

    3. it's not being extra feminist i think it's just me, i've read some books where i soend more time wanting to slap teh character to enter some sense into her and becoming angrier page after page than immersed in the story

    9. ^^ she is really intent in her reading, usually you can speak to her and she doesn't hear anythiong ( i'm like that but only when i'm absolutely love a book) her book are more than 300pages by the way and she can reread them quite soon without trouble ( my problem is that fater the author need time to writye the next book in teh series and i have to find other one i can introduce her too... the majority she loves she is up to date ( with one release per year at most)

    10. Yes I imagine its hard to find ones for her when she goes through them all so fast! She would make a great reviewer for authors since she can get through so many so fast! I thought I had enough trouble finding stuff for my mom but I couldnt imagine having to find for yours when she reads them so quickly. :) I get sucked into my books but even I dont do it that fast. :)

    11. i don't think she could do a great reviewer because she is in teh book but after she can't ell me what she thought or why ^^ it's more like instant feeling for her^^ ( and she doesn't read always that fats, if she has a lot of custumer or worse people for info she doesn't have time to read but at that time she had been hurt ( her shoulder, operation) so i had to fill in for her and she could indulge^^ still she does read a lot but in normal time it's only teh evening

Its kind of funny that are moms are alike and so are we. :)
