New books being released today!

This is a first book in a new series from Molly Harper, the Author of the Nice Girls series. I really enjoyed the Nice Girls series so I am excited to read this.

The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires

From Goodreads:

Iris Scanlon, Half-Moon Hollow’s only daytime vampire concierge, knows more about the undead than she’d like. Running all their daylight errands—from letting in the plumber to picking up some chilled O neg—gives her a look at the not-so-glamorous side of vampire life. Her rules are strict; relationships with vamps are strictly business, not friendship—and certainly not anything else. But then she finds her newest client, Cal, poisoned on his kitchen floor, and only Iris can help.

Cal - who would be devastatingly sexy, if Iris allowed herself to think that way - offers Iris a hefty fee for hiding him at her place until he figures out who wants him permanently dead. Even though he’s imperious, unfriendly and doesn't seem to understand the difference between "employee" and "servant," Iris agrees, and finds herself breaking more and more of her own rules to help him - particularly those concerning nudity.

Turns out what her quiet little life needed was some intrigue & romance—in the form of her very own stray vampire.

Otherkin

From Goodreads:

I thought I knew myself. Then I met Caleb.

Dez is a good girl who does as she’s told and tries not to be noticed.

Then she rescues a boy from a cage, and he tells her secrets about herself.

Now inside her burns a darkness that will transform her.

Everything is about to change -- and neither Caleb, nor the Otherkin, nor those who hunt them are prepared for what Dez will unleash.

Shadow Rising (Dark Dynasties, #3)

This is the third book in the Dark Dynasties series.

From: Goodreads:

Ancient Secrets, Dark Passions...

As one of the Grigori, a noble vampire dynasty shrouded in mystery, Ariane has spent her life hidden away in the desert. Like all of her kind, she is a watcher, fated to observe, forbidden to act. Yet when her best friend, Sammael, vanishes, she defies all rules and flees her safe haven to bring him home.

A shape-shifting assassin for the House of Shadows, Damien Tremaine is hired to locate Sammael. His hunt for the wayward Grigori leads him to Ariane, the rogue vamp who stands between him and his bounty. Damien never lets emotion interfere with his work, but a single touch from the sexy, beguiling vampire shatters his self-control. Drawn together by their common goal, what begins as an alliance of necessity soon becomes one of desire. But when the secret at the dark heart of the Grigori comes to light, Damien and Ariane must make a choice that could bind them eternally...or tear them—and everything they care about—apart.

What do you think? Do any of these strike your fancy? If not, what are you waiting for?

I'd love to know what you're thinking. Please leave a comment!

Review & Giveaway: Racing to Love by Amy Gregory

Racing to Love - Carter's Treasure

Title: Racing to Love
Author: Amy Gregory
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Publisher: Sapphire Star Publishing

Synopsis:

From the outside, Molly West had everything, beauty, brains, and a career she’d retired from not once, but twice. Being in the limelight and in a sport that was male driven, she was often surrounded by men. She ignored first the boys, and as she got older, the men. Her cold shoulder and patented not a chance in hell look were usually enough to get her point across. Molly had no plans in changing what was a perfectly good system. That is until she walked into the pits.

Carter Sterling had traveled the racing circuit since he was a boy. He’d heard all the old standbys, She’s out there somewhere, love comes along when you least expect it. Good things come to those that… Yeah, he’d heard them all. The last place he expected to meet the love of his life was on a pro track. All she did was smile, and he knew, looking into her sapphire blue eyes, Molly West was his. Forever.

If it was only that easy. From the moment he laid eyes on her, he had a gripping feeling in him. An overwhelming need to protect her—a girl he’d just met. Carter had learned a long time ago that gut feelings are almost never wrong. Molly now held his heart in her hands, but it was going to take a lot more than just love to protect her from the past she thought she’d buried a long time ago.

Here is an excerpt to tempt you even more:

They continued to walk back toward the pits, but he stopped when they were in the darkened hallway, just before they would have rounded the corner and been seen.

Molly’s heart sped.

He was still holding her hand, but turned to face her as he placed his other hand on her waist. She sucked in a breath when he stepped forward. Her first instinct was to be anxious, to cower back, but something in those ice blue eyes told her she didn’t have to be afraid.

When he had leaned in to kiss her when they were sitting on the track, she’d panicked. And then when he had started to move away, she’d panicked again—for a different reason entirely.

Those flip-flopping emotions were about to drive her crazy.

Now, in the dimmed corridor, Molly closed her eyes to catch her breath and to search for a decision. He’d been rubbing his thumb on her waist, but his movements stopped when her eyes dropped closed. The soothing strokes didn’t continue until she finally reopened her eyes and dragged her attention up his chest and past his Adam’s apple. She continued up until she locked her gaze with his. When she offered him a hesitant smile, he began stroking her again with a warm smile on his lips.

Staring down at her, he let go of her hand and skimmed the back of his over her cheek. She felt her heart thundering, her pulse racing when she ran her hands up his chest, feeling each and every rippled muscle. She’d never purposely touched a man like this before. Sure, she’d felt Brody’s muscles when she’d smacked him for one reason or another. Or when trying to push him off of her after he’d wrestled her to the ground being an ornery brother and all. But this? This was foreign.

Her eyes were back on her own fingers, taking everything in. She stopped at his heart and could feel it pounding hard beneath the soft cotton t-shirt.

“Just so you know…” he started in his slow, sexy voice.

She could tell he was waiting for eye contact again before continuing. “Yeah?” she whispered.

“I’m going to fall in love with you.”

Here's my review:

This was a great start to a new series. It was a romance that had some mystery and action too.

Molly West knows how to handle a bike. Guys not so much. She's had a rough life and guys make her nervous. That is until Carter Sterling enters the picture. From the beginning they are drawn to each other.

Carter knows almost instantly that this is "THE ONE". He will do whatever he has to to prove himself to not only her but her overbearing brother as well.

Things are looking good for Molly and Carter when things get scary. I don't want to give things away by saying what happens. There were many underlying issues in this story and that keep the story flowing and keeps you rooting for Molly to get a Happily Ever After.

I really thought Carter was wonderful. He was so understanding and sweet.

I especially liked the part with Molly and Erin in the hotel near the end of the book. It was cute!

I received a copy of Racing to Love in exchange for my honest review.

Contemporary Romance
Title: Take This Regret
Author: A. L. Jackson
Publisher: Sapphire Publishing

Take This Regret

Synopsis:

There are some mistakes we make that we will regret for the rest of our lives. For Christian, it was the day he betrayed Elizabeth.

Christian Davison has a plan for his life. He is determined to become an attorney and to one day take his place as partner in his father’s law firm. Nothing will stand in his way, not even Elizabeth Ayers and their unborn child.

After Christian cuts her from his life, Elizabeth spends the next five years struggling to provide for her daughter and willing to sacrifice anything to give her child a safe, comfortable life.

For five years, Christian has regretted the day he walked away from his family and will do anything to win them back just as Elizabeth will do anything to protect her daughter from the certain heartache she believes Christian will bring upon them.

When Christian wrestles his way into their lives, Elizabeth is faced with asking herself if it is possible to forgive someone when they’ve committed the unforgiveable and if it is possible to find a love after it has been buried in years of hate. Or are there some wounds that go so deep they can never heal?

They say everyone deserves a second chance.

Want more? Here's an excerpt!!!

Two hours later, Christian sat at his desk studying for his politics midterm, all the while listening intently for the sound of footsteps outside his door he felt certain he would hear. He trained his attention on the heavy textbook in front of him, trying to ignore the growing anxiety he felt each time he picked up his cell phone to check if he’d missed any messages.

None came.

It was well after midnight when he crawled into bed, convinced she just needed some time to realize he was right. He had to be right. He wouldn’t allow himself to think otherwise, so every time that wave of guilt came, he pushed it aside.

He envisioned her awake, just as he was, tossing uncomfortably in her small bed that rested in the far corner of her studio apartment and slowly coming to terms with what she needed to do.

But when he dragged his unrested body from his bed the next morning, his phone was still devoid of messages.

He had been cruel—he knew it. He could only hope he hadn’t pushed her too far, but that she would somehow understand he was just trying to protect their future.

Christian ate a bowl of cold cereal and then forced himself into the steam of his shower, desperate to find anything to chase away his fatigue. He found his head in a cloud, both from lack of sleep and from the scenarios running through his mind, ones including a life without Elizabeth.

What if she never came back?

Could he really give her up?

As he rubbed the soapy washcloth over his body, he tried to picture an existence without her. A life void of the perfect pitch of her voice, the way it rang out when she laughed. A life in
which he didn’t touch the softness of her skin or have the right to pull her body against his. A life without a child crying out from the next room as he tried unsuccessfully to study for the bar.

Groaning, he shook his head and forced it all away, telling himself it would not come to that.

He was certain when he saw her in class today, she would take her normal seat beside him in the lecture hall, lean in, and whisper in his ear that he was right.

But when her seat remained vacant, his unease grew, gnawing at his stomach. The moment the professor dismissed class, Christian raced from the room and to the café where Elizabeth and he studied every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. He frantically scanned the room, finding several mildly familiar faces but not the one he wanted to see.

By the time he reached her apartment complex, he was panting, both from exertion from the mile he had run and the constriction fear had placed on his heart. He pounded on the door, giving her no time to answer before he yelled, “Elizabeth!” There was no sound from the other side, no rustling of curtains or faint shuffling of feet. Even then, he wasn’t satisfied. Fumbling with his keys, he found his spare and pushed it into the lock.

The door opened to the quietness, the small studio comfortably cluttered as always. The only thing that seemed amiss was the blankets from her normally neat bed were strewn on the floor. Christian crossed the space to the only separate room. The door to the bathroom rested ajar, that room as empty as the first.

Christian pressed his back against the wall and took a deep breath. He wasn’t prepared for this. He’d never thought it would go this far.

Reluctantly, he forced himself out of the apartment, shutting and locking the door behind him before he left, hating the voice inside his head that kept telling him this was for the best.

My thoughts:

There are no words that could begin to explain how wonderfully powerful this story is.
It was an awesome story! I love to read stories that make me feel the emotions that the characters are going through. Take This Regret was one of those books  This story had so much depth to it. I went through so many emotions with this book. I was angry, scared, happy, and surprised, I felt sympathetic to Christian even though he brought the situation on himself.

I cryed so many times during this book. The story will truly touch you. I am not going to tell you how it ends. I'm just going to say do yourself a favor and Read This Book. If you want to read a believable story that will make you think, and make you thankful for what you have, then read this!!!

I was given a copy of Take This Regret in exchange for my honest opinion.

 Look at his eyes. Wow!

Blurb:
Anya’s wish for a normal date—away from the old man she is caretaker for—comes true in unexpected ways when she finds herself whisked to an ancient Irish stone circle on solstice eve.

Carrick’s decision to follow the path to become an Ovate druid has not come lightly, and he plans to spend the solstice eve in meditation unless fairies or evil spirits disrupt the circle. When a feisty girl walks right up to the fire, more than sparks fly.

They each seek healing and a connection, but the darkness of summer is short, and once the solstice sun breaks through the circle at dawn, the magic of the night will be over. Even Madame Eve can’t stop the day from rising.

Here's a small taste of  Druid, Mine.

Maybe I’m the first person Madame Eve can’t find a match for. And how was it any better than just picking someone up from one of the dozen bars along the street?

Bile filled her throat. Being caretaker for the old man had filled her days but left her empty inside. I’m lonely. I need this 1Night Stand. She stifled a sob. Crying wouldn’t help anything. She had chosen her path knowing full well what the consequences would be. Maybe she hadn’t foreseen how deeply alone she’d feel, but she’d known what she was getting into, work-wise. She used to be a risk taker, impulsive and willing to try new things. Why was she so willing to settle for security now?

The town’s few buildings rose in shadowed relief in the dusky twilight around the city center like tall stones. Guardians, perhaps. Behind them lay the mountains, the wild unknown. She sat straight and leaned into the faint spray from the fountain. The cool mist spread across the back of her arms. Closing her eyes, she lifted her long hair so the moisture could reach the back of her neck.

“Aine?”

Anya dropped her hair.

“Hello?” No one.

“Aine. Let’s go.” The voice floated on drops of water and fell through the air.

“What?” No one was near.

“I’m here.” The voice settled softly like dew on her skin. The air wavered over the fountain and the water slowed.

I only had one beer.

“Come. He awaits.”

For the briefest moment, a golden light eclipsed the edge of Anya’s vision then darkness slid over her.

My thoughts:

This was another super quick read.  Anya is tired of not having a life outside of caring for an old man. She is lonely and decides to ask Madame Eve to match her up. And does she ever!

Carrick is a lonely druid about to finish his initiation and become an Ovate, thus sealing his fate to live a solitary life.

They end up spending the night together. Want to know how it ends? Well do you? My lips are sealed.  Read the book for yourself.

I enjoyed reading Druid, Mine but as usual I would have liked a little more!  I recommend this to any adult looking for a quick, steamy read.

I received a copy of this book in order to offer my honest opinion.

Review~ Dead Radiance by T.G. Ayer

Dead Radiance (Valkyrie, #1)

This review was supposed to be part of my post on the 21st where I interviewed T.G Ayer. However, her book was a little longer than I anticipated. Don't get me wrong, her book was not overly long but I was getting ready to go on vacation and I had a limited amount of time. Most of the books that I've been reviewing lately have been super short and I assumed that this would be the same. I was wrong.

First off I really like this cover! It definitely catches the eye. It really portraits Bryn the main character. The book begins with Bryn being a somewhat normal teenager. If it is normal to be a foster child who shares a home with three other foster children and a loving, understanding mother. Bryn's had an unusual ability since she was five. She can see a glow around some people and lately it's been shining around her best friend Joshua, so much so that she's been avoiding him. She doesn't know for sure what it means and she can't tell him or anyone else that she sees things that no one else is seeing. Can you say loony bin?

After an accident claims Joshua's life but leaves her alive, she becomes a pariah. Everyone thinks she's a freak that took one of their best away from them. They feel that it should have been her instead. Not long after, Aidan, a new foster kid moves in. They have a love/hate relationship from the beginning.

I have to say that the characters have personalities that are very believable. We do find out what the glow means and so much more! This book has some Gods and Goddesses, ulfrs which are shapeshifters, valkyries, and a story that has you entranced from the beginning till end.

T.G. has such a wonderful imagination! She is so descriptive that you can almost visualize being there with Bryn. Dead Radiance was completely different. There was not one moment that was reminiscent of other books ! :D

Dead Radiance had intrigue, action galore (look at the cover, that sword's not just a decoration!), and a touch of romance. I could go on and on I enjoyed it so much! I recommend this book to everyone who's looking for a great paranormal story to read.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I honestly loved it!  I can't wait to read her next book Dead Embers.

Would you like a little more? I have an excerpt to share with you! :D

Jansen Svaar's room came next. With the renovations, Jansen's bed had been shifted. He was not quite in the new area, but not as cozy as he'd been before.

Jansen hadn't minded. The big Swede had enjoyed every one of his seventy-eight years and wasn't ready to jump off yet. Big and robust in his prime, his physical body had withered to one battling diabetes that defied control, and cancer that defied remission. Yet, he was still here and looking so much better than when he arrived. Even his thick head of hair had returned with rich brown color. His last tests had come back with very positive indicators. So much so, Jansen wanted to stop his treatments. According to him, he was all better. If it were possible to heal by his word alone, then he'd see it done.

Maddy grinned as she recalled the many conversations they'd shared in the past.

At the entrance to his doorway, she stopped to survey his bed.

Something was wrong.

Purple energy hovered over Jansen; a thick blanket of colored haze covered his midsection. Frowning, Maddy studied the odd essence. Energy had a signature – like DNA, the energy was unique to each person. It just wasn't as easy to identify.

She'd worked with him long enough to know it wasn't his aura.

The smoky blanket moved
Who or what did the energy represent? Her gaze swept the rest of the room before striding forward. The activity over Jansen did not shy away; it increased. She narrowed her gaze. The eerie silence of the room magnified the unearthly scene before her.

It wasn't what she'd experienced the night before, racing through the hallway into chaos. She expected noises of some kind. Not this hushed silence, as if sound would shatter the intensity of whatever was going on. She frowned. A struggle of some kind was going on.

She shook her head, panic stirring inside. Could energy fight with itself? With someone else's energy? Is that what happened to Eric? She studied the energy again. This time she saw it. The blanket of malevolence was moving over the bed and occupant, spreading and growing every minute.

Underneath, Jansen was suffocating.

His energy, tiny and thin, struggled to remain separate and distinct from the purple amoeba-like entity sucking the life force from him.

Fear shot through her. This couldn't happen again. Maddy raced to the bedside. "Stop," she cried out hoarsely, not wanting to disturb the other patients. "Leave him alone."

The purple energy quivered in place but did not dissipate.

Maddy wafted her hands over Jansen's body. Her fingers slipped into and through the mist, neither feeling it nor dispersing it. She fed her own energy into Jansen's heart chakra, giving him her strength and will to hold on. At the same time, she closed her eyes and surrounded herself and, by the extension of her hand on his, Jansen's body with white light. The old answer to keeping oneself safe and balanced.

The energy shifted, cooled.

She opened her eyes to find the energy still wiggling in place, the purple haze malicious in appearance. Then slowly, like fog blowing in the wind, the haze thinned before sending tendrils into the darkness.

Maddy reached out and checked Jansen's pulse. Her medical training took over on the physical level as her medical intuitive training took over on the energy field. She observed the thread-like cord of light stretching far out of Jansen's body, gently pulsating in a reassuring rhythm. Maddy coaxed his system to relax a little more, then to wake up gently.

"Dr. Maddy?" His paper-thin lids opened to reveal rheumy blue eyes blinking in surprise.

"Yes, it's me, Jansen." Maddy studied his face. "How do you feel?" He appeared fine, normal but surprised.

"Christ, I don't know. I had the most horrible dream." He coughed slightly and shifted position in the bed, tugging at his covers as if chilled.

"Oh?" Maddy kept her voice calm and soothing. "What was it about?"

"Like someone was pulling my soul from my body, one inch at a time." Fear filled the old man's eyes. His thin hands grasped hers nervously. "I don't know what the hell it was, but I felt on a precipice between life and death. It was like meeting Peter at the pearly gates himself, and him not being too happy to see me."

"Shhh." Maddy stroked his hands, noting with clinical detachment that his liver spots had begun to fade. "It was just a dream. Not to worry. It's over. I'm here, and you're safe. Go back to sleep."

Relief washed over his face. "Thanks, Doc. Don't know what I'd do without you."

Shifting sideways, Jansen closed his eyes and fell back to sleep.

Maddy walked to the doorway, turned around and glanced back.

No sign of the purple grim reaper. Jansen was safe.

For now.

She shuddered. What the hell was happening at The Haven?

Dale Mayer created a book that combined romance, suspense and paranormal elements so well that it should appeal to readers of all of these genres. (Debra)

Dale Mayer did an outstanding job with this book. I have really enjoyed the whole series and highly recommend it to everyone. The characters were well developed and the story was fantastic. I plan to read other books she's written and can't wait for the next book in this series. (Bizzybee)

I have only become interested in paranormal and psychic fiction in the last couple of year and this author ranks at the top of the list when it comes to combining this genre with mystery and romance. All three books in this series were so riveting I could hardly put the kindle down until I'd read all the way through (which meant some very late nights but it was worth it). (Raven)

I couldn`t put my kindle down! This series was number 1 in psychic thrillers. i couldn`t read it fast enough but didn`t want it to end! Can`t wait for the next book. (Lala6)

Maddy's Floor is the third book in a psychic phenomenon trilogy and although I enjoyed the first two, I thought this last book was the best of the three. Dale's characters are well defined and the story has just the right amount of suspense, romance and action. I liked that Maddy was comfortable with her talent as a medical intuitive and that the character who wound his way through the three books played a larger role in this one. (Janet Fedor)

Endlessly (Paranormalcy, #3)

Endlessly is out today! Here is the blurb from Goodreads:

Evie's paranormal past keeps coming back to haunt her. A new director at the International Paranormal Containment Agency wants to drag her back to headquarters. The Dark Faerie Queen is torturing humans in her poisonous realm. And supernatural creatures keep insisting that Evie is the only one who can save them from a mysterious, perilous fate.

The Last book in the Women of the Otherworld series:

Thirteen (Women of the Otherworld, #13)

This is the 13th book (hence the name) in the Woman of the Otherworld series.

It is bittersweet to have this book be released. This has been a great series and while I'm excited to be able to read Thirteen, I'm sad to see this series come to an end.

I can't wait to see what Kelley Armstrong comes up with next. I really hope that we see our favorite characters again in the future. I especially love Clay and Elena but I have a soft spot for many of the characters.

Here is the blurb from Goodreads:

The #1 New York Times bestselling author Kelley Armstrong delivers the novel her fans have been clamoring for: The epic finale of the Otherworld series.

It’s been more than ten years, a dozen installments, and hundreds of thousands of copies since Kelley Armstrong introduced readers to the all-too-real denizens of the Otherworld: witches, werewolves, necromancers, vampires, and half-demons, among others. And it’s all been leading to Thirteen, the final installment, the novel that brings all of these stories to a stunning conclusion.

A war is brewing—the first battle has been waged and Savannah Levine is left standing, albeit battered and bruised. She has rescued her half brother from supernatural medical testing, but he’s fighting to stay alive. The Supernatural Liberation Movement took him hostage, and they have a maniacal plan to expose the supernatural world to the unknowing.

Savannah has called upon her inner energy to summon spells with frightening strength, a strength she never knew she had, as she fights to keep her world from shattering. But it’s more than a matter of supernaturals against one another—both heaven and hell have entered the war; hellhounds, genetically modified werewolves, and all forces of good and evil have joined the fray.

Uniting Savannah with Adam, Paige, Lucas, Jaime, Hope, and other lost-but-notforgotten characters in one epic battle, Thirteen is a grand, crowd-pleasing closer for Armstrong’s legions of fans.

Last but not least is:

Drain You

Here's the blurb from Goodreads:

Every night I'd lie there in bed and look out at the hills behind our house, listening. I knew there'd be consequences.

Actions meant reactions. Sunrises meant sunsets. My fear was too permanent, lasting longer than eyeliner, something I wore every day and didn't wash off.

Quinlan Lacey's life is a red carpet of weird fashions, hip bands, random parties, and chilling by the pool with her on-and-off BFF Libby. There's also her boring job (minimum wage), a crushed-out coworker (way too interested), her summer plans (nada), and her parents (totally clueless). Then one night she meets gorgeous James, and Quinn's whole world turns crazy, Technicolor, 3-D, fireworks, whatever.

But with good comes bad and unfortunately, Quinn's new romance brings with it some majorly evil baggage. Now, to make things right, she has to do a lot of things wrong (breaking and entering, kidnapping, lying, you name it).

There's normal, and then there's paranormal, and neither are Quinlan's cup of Diet Coke. Staying sane, cool, in love, and alive isn't so easy breezy.

That day I knew for sure. I'd lost control of my tears then. They fell in huge, mocking drops. I stared at Joshua through those bitter tears, my heart missing beats as I tried to remember to breathe.

I finally knew what the glow meant.

I was a freak and Joshua was going to die.

Description:
Bryn Halbrook had always seen the glow. But it is only when her best friend dies that she discovers the meaning of those beautiful golden auras — Death. Alone, lost in the foster system, she struggles to understand who she is and why she was cursed with the ability to see the soon-to-be-dead.

The new foster kid, Aidan, isn’t helping any. Mr. Perfect seems to fit in no matter what, making her feel even more pathetic. But when his affections turn to her, Bryn finds him hard to resist. Impossible actually. A mystery himself, Aidan disappears, leaving behind a broken heart and a mysterious book that suggests Bryn might not be entirely human.

Bryn stands at the threshold of a journey of discovery. Will destiny help her find herself, find her purpose and her place in a world in which she’d never belonged?

Bio:
I have been a writer from the time I was old enough to recognise that reading was a doorway into my imagination. Poetry was my first foray into the art of the written word. Books were my best friends, my escape, my haven. I am essentially a recluse but this part of my personality is impossible to practise given I have two teenage daughters, who are actually my friends, my tea-makers, my confidantes... I am blessed with a husband who has left me for golf. It's a fair trade as I have left him for writing. We are both passionate supporters of each others loves - it works wonderfully...

My heart is currently broken in two. One half resides in South Africa where my old roots still remain, and my heart still longs for the endless beaches and the smell of moist soil after a summer downpour. My love for Ma Afrika will never fade. The other half of me has been transplanted to the Land of the Long White Cloud. The land of the Taniwha, beautiful Maraes, and volcanoes. The land of green, pure beauty that truly inspires. And because I am so torn between these two lands - I shall forever remain cross-eyed.

T.G. Ayer was kind enough to let me interview her! :D Here is what she had to say.

T.G. what do you find most challenging or most enjoyable about writing?

Well, its confession time. I love the research, playing with ideas, mind-mapping and daydreaming. I also do mock-up covers which use as a goal reminder, and basic character profiles which help me keep on track with my characters. The writing part is actually the hardest to get started. That's why I usually do Word Wars with my dear friends Patti Larsen and Cassie Hart, and also my FB writing group. Once I do get the words flowing I feel a lot better about my manuscript and usually keep the flow for up to about five thousand words on a good day :)

In what scenario do you do your best work?

Peaceful, quiet, silent solitude. LOL. I know, that's nearly impossible. I do as much as I can in terms of editing, writing, researching and social networking during the day while the family are all out, but after dinner gets a bit distracting. Usually the girls would start a conversation and I'd nod and smile, and then halfway through they notice the blank look in my eyes and say 'But you haven't heard a word I've said!'

Breakfast, lunch, or dinner which is your favorite meal?

Dinner. Even though I have to cook it most days, its definitely dinner, and not only because of the food, its the conversation. As a family we always eat our meals together and we usually chat about our day. Oh and any day now they will all give up asking me how my day was. It's apparently always the same - writing, editing and 'very busy'.

What is your favorite season? favorite holiday?

Christmastime. I love Christmas, and I seem to have passed the bug to my kids. We are Southern Hemisphere people having grown up in Africa and now living in the South Pacific, I've never had a White Christmas. It's on my bucket list!
I have to say that there is nothing like a white Christmas! I really that hope you get to experience it. I can't imagine having a warm and sunny Christmas. :D

Hardback, paperback, or e-book?

Paperback for daytime and e-book for night-time. Most days I hardly get a chance to read much, but I do like the odd day curling up on the couch with a good book after lunch. But very often I have a problem falling asleep and so that last two hours I'd much rather prefer reading an e-book under the covers than fussing with a nightlight. Only one rule though - do not disturb DH while he sleeps. ;)

What is your favorite genre to read? favorite author? Horror. I grew up on a steady diet of Dean Koontz, John Saul and Stephen King. At the moment I adore Alexandra Sokoloff, so I guess anything that has an almost realistic paranormal element. I mean, we all know vampires and werewolves, and Valkyries ;) , don't exist, but ghosts? A lot of people have had some sort of supernatural experience so yeah, I like a story that can scare me silly, and make me afraid to close my eyes in the shower. LOL
Horror is the one genre I don't read. I am a fraidy cat. lol!

Do you prefer quiet or loud?

Quiet. I always said I wanted to live out in the country where I wouldn't hear cars or trucks going by. So definitely quiet unless I am listening to Linkin Park- then it has to be LOUD. :)

Home cooked or ordered out?

Ooh, that's a hard one. I love take-out only because I have to cook every day, but seriously my most favourite meals are when my hubby cooks. He makes the most fabulous paella, and to-die-for BBQ mussels.

What is your least favorite chore?

Washing the dishes. I'd rather clean the shower! And the toilet. And pull weeds, and take out the garbage! Doesn't take much to make me happy- just do my dishes ;)

What is your favorite TV show or sport?

TV show at the moment is Revenge- I'm hoping Season 2 lives up to the suspense of the first season. Favourite sport is baseball. Don't ask me why. I come from a country that is cricket and rugby mad. I live in a country that is cricket and rugby mad. But I love baseball. I totally need to move to the US...
:D

T.G., thank you for taking the time to answer my questions and for everything! You are awesome! :D  I am really enjoying Dead Radiance and I can't wait to read Dead Embers.

I am currently on vacation and will post my review in a few days when I return. I can say that I started reading it before I left and I was totally enthralled.
